Wikipedia

It's true, if you can list it, you can probably find it on Wikipedia.

They've solved the mystery of those Chinese measure words that haunt my understanding of that language, or lack thereof.

Mobile Phone Fun

Just checking out the latest programming tools for modern mobiles. The main languages I'm looking at are Python for S60 phones, and Java J2ME, the programming languages of all those Java games those annoying TV adverts can't shut up about.

There are now standard interfaces for all kinds of things, like Bluetooth, camera, GPS (if you have it, and I envy you if you do), Web services...

I came up with a few ideas.

Mobile Phone Tiggy
or Tag or Tips or whatever you call that game in your neck of the woods.
All players load the game onto their GPS enabled phone and congregate in the same suburb or something. GPS coordinates of your friends are uploaded to a server on the internet, and are accessible to all players. When you come within Bluetooth distance of your friend, you take a photo of said friend, and that friend is out of the game. (The photo part is just for gloating rights.)

This actually sounds like a suburb-wide game of Laser Tag actually.

Card games.
Any card game. Each hand of cards is displayed on each user's screen. When you "put down" a card, a Bluetooth message displays this card to all players. You could even use chips if you wanted to be a lemming and get into that Texas Hold'Em craze.

Heck, you don't even need to program game rules. Just deal 'em and let the players sort it out.

Web Services.
Why hasn't anyone built a synchroniser for my Nokia To Do list to the Remember The Milk web service yet?

Linked Tetris via Bluetooth!
That game was awesome when we were in high school and were using TI-83 graphics calculators.

Now, if only I had some spare time...
